  • Joint replacement
  • Sports medicine

  • Hand, wrist and elbow injuries and conditions
  • Osteoporosis
  • Foot and ankle injuries and conditions
  • Back/spine injuries and conditions

Our main goal is simple: to provide top quality orthopedic care that will improve or restore each patients quality of life.

Joint Replacement
The Main Line Health Orthopedic Center offers one of the largest joint replacement programs in the Philadelphia area. And there's an important reason for that: Our surgeons do the job right. Referring doctors trust their patients to us because of our superior success rates and high level of patient satisfaction. From the first evaluation, we make sure the diagnosis is accurate, so that all subsequent treatments are appropriate to each individual's condition. Patients can count on significant pain relief and return of function.

Our surgeons stay at the forefront of modern surgical technology, utilizing the latest equipment and procedures. These advances enhance our outcomes, result in fewer complications and promote a faster recovery. Even with an emphasis on technical excellence, precision and safety, the key to our patient's success is experience. Our orthopedic surgeons are better at what they do because they've done it so many times - hundreds of knee and hip replacements are performed annually at Lankenau Hospital. Add to this experience Main Line Health's proven regimen for recovery: a carefully balanced program of physician and orthopedic nursing care combined with the most knowledgeable physical therapists.

Sports Medicine
If you are a weekend warrior or a professional athlete who zigged when you should have zagged, the Main Line Health orthopedic team can get you back in the game. Our sports medicine experts focus on repairing bones, ligaments, cartilage, tendons, muscles and joints for those who compete, exercise or just want to stay active. In fact, many of our orthopedic surgeons are athletes themselves and serve as team physicians for the area's prefessional and college teams.

We've made our mark not only by returning patients to their active lifestyles, but also by improving sports medicine techniques and actually training other physicians in the field. We're also authorities in arthroscopic surgery and have helped pioneer many new and minimally invasive procedures. Our focus extends to injuries that result from repetitive motion or other physical activities that may or may not be sports related but cause similar types of conditions.

Specializing in Your Special Parts

  • Hands: The delicate structure of the hand poses a different kind of orthopedic challenge. And Main Line Health has the experts and expertise to rise to it. Our hand surgeons have dedicated themselves to care of all types of injuries and chronic conditions that can compromise the function of the hands and wrists. And they work, well, hand-in-hand with dedicated, specially trained hand-and-wrist therapists to get patients functioning at their peak level.
  • Backs: Main Line Health's spine surgeons, often working with our skilled neurosurgeons, can help save people with back injuries the prospect of long-term pain and debilitation. Whether counseling on shoe wear, managing critical occupational therapy, or performing complex operations on the vertebrae, our back specialists offer first-rate care.
  • Feet and Ankles: Some members of our orthopedic team specialize in resolving foot and ankle problems. They move to immediately limit further injury and to initiate the healing process with as little limitation of the patient's normal activities as possible. They use the most up-to-date external and implanted support to stabalize foot structures.

Rehabilitation Choices
Your condition probably began with pain and a decrease in your strength and mobility. In response, your rehabilitation will focus on reducing pain and restoring your strength and function as safely and efficiently as possible. It begins in the hospital where your surgery was performed and continues after you are discharged.

If you need additional rehabilitation that requires hospitalization, services are available at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, the largest and most comprehensive rehabilitation organization in the region. Once your hospital rehab is complete, outpatient therapy is available at each of the Main Line Health hospitals and other outpatient facilities. you may also receive therapy in the comfort of your own home through The Home Care Network. At every therapy site, our medical and clinical rehabilitation specialists develop treatment plans tailored to meet each patient's individual needs and goals.

Personal Attention from a Team of Experts
Whether you are experiencing rotator cuff problems or torn knee ligaments, carpal tunnel conditions or a herniated disk - at Main Line Health, your orthopedic specialist will be with you from your first appointment through your follow-up visits. This close, one-on-one attention helps open up the lines of communication so you can ask questions and understand your care. In turn, we better understand what you are experiencing and how you are progressing.
