The Lankenau Hospital Cancer Center's commitment to personalized cancer care encompasses the entire family, addressing each patient's unique needs and supporting him or her through the diagnosis, treatment
and recovery periods. We work closely with community resources such as the American Cancer Society.
-
Psychosocial Support: A licensed oncology social worker helps patients and families adjust to the many challenges involved with a cancer diagnosis.
Counseling is available to help with community resource referral, coping with illness, family and relationship concerns and
financial or insurance needs. Lankenau also offers several support groups.
-
Rehabilitation Services: Occupational, physical and speech therapy services are available for patients who may be physically deconditioned from either
surgery or treatment. Occupational and physical therapies build strength and endurance and help with self care and mobility
issues. Speech therapy assesses swallowing in order to place patients on appropriate diets. Following lymph node or lymphatic
vessel surgery, some patients may experience lymphedema or swelling of the limbs due to insufficient drainage by the lymphatic
system. Our specialized Lymphedema Management Program helps prevent or treat the symptoms and promote recovery.
-
Nutrition Services: Registered dietitians offer individualized counseling on an outpatient basis. A plan is developed to meet the special nutritional
needs of the oncology patient.
-
Home Care: For patients who require specialized medical needs in the home, home care referrals are made by the treatment team on an
individualized basis. Services are available through our Home Care Network.
-
Free Wig Program: Free wigs are available to women who are experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment to help them look and feel
their best.
-
Hospice & Bereavement Services: Specialized services for end-of-life care are offered through our Home Care Network. A hospital chaplain is also available
at Lankenau as needed.
-
Carepages: Lankenau Hospital offers a free, private web page service to help family and friends stay in touch before, during and after
hospitalization. For more information about this convenient service, click here!
-
Cancer-Related Programs: From screenings to lectures to classes, Main Line Health regularly hosts a variety of special events to help members of our
community be aware of cancer or to deal with it. View Our Event Calendar or check out our Health-e Neighbors Cancer Programs page for information about upcoming events.
