The cancer specialists at the Lankenau Hospital Cancer Center in the Philadelphia suburbsare expert in treating blood related
cancers such as lymphoma, leukemia and myeloma. Lymphomas, solid masses in the lymph nodes or other tissue, are usually diagnosed
with x-rays that show an enlargement. Patients with non-Hodgkins lymphoma, the most common type, are being cared for with
the very latest treatment technologies at Lankenau. This would include the use of radioimmunotherapy, a promising treatment that combines radiation and immunotherapy to deliver radiation directly to cancer cells via monoclonal
antibodies. These monoclonal antibodies locate and bind to proteins of the surface of the cancer cells, delivering radiation
directly to the cells.
